2019 was one of the roughest years I've ever had in my life. I hit one of my lowest points in terms of being healthy mentally, physically, emotionally and above all... how I treated myself. I lost a part of who I was, I felt my soul break, I was clouded by a lot of life things happening at once, and let things happen to me where the real me would've never stood for. I protected and put other people's happiness before mine and boy did that f*ck me over. In this particular time, I surprised myself with how badly I was falling deep into a black hole. It took me a therapist, an informative book, really loving conversations with the right people and time, to eventually crawl out of that dark place that I had a bad habit of going back to. But the first step was seeking help and being transparent and fearless of what it would take to get me there. And walking out of situations and environments that did not move me forward in life. Embarrassing or not, it's out there. Surrounding yourself with a good support group and the right energies should matter. Sticking up for yourself and realizing your worth should be a priority. Two days ago, I went to a dance workshop and the theme was to come with no makeup and to dance -- for yourself and to love yourself. (All proceeds went to an Australian relief fund, thank you @chelseadavalos_ for being amazing!) It was an intimate moment I had with myself to appreciate my own presence. What it took for me to even show up, how far I've come and the crazy things I've been lucky to experience. That was the first time in a long time I felt the real me. (Nothing bad on makeup, I love playing with it.) I know the world right now is not in the greatest happy place but truthfully, everyone is going through something that you have no idea about. I know for the start of the new decade, everyone was really eager to start fresh and things have been sucking so far (the news) but please have hope. Women, continue supporting each other and sticking together that I hope you wonderfully do. & To anyone else reading, sometimes listening to someone is all that is ever needed. Stick your head up and middle finger up higher, it's going to get better. 💕

— Hey there! My name is Kortni. I’m the girl behind the camera + this business you follow. I’m a wife, artist, entrepreneur + a world traveler. I call the Adirondack mountains of New York home when I’m not traveling for work or for fun! ✘ I’ve been doing this wedding photography thing for over 6 years now – part-time for 4 years + full-time for almost 2 years now. Today I thought I’d share a little bit about being a wedding + elopement photographer. So here are a few things about this job that you may not know… 1. It’s a lot of hard work. Since I run my own business, I do it all – social media, marketing, client management, client communication, emails, phone calls, shooting, traveling, editing, etc. 2. It’s requires weird hours a lot of the time. I work almost every weekend while my friends are free + a lot of late nights in the busy season to keep up with deadlines. 🙈 3. I travel a lot. This is usually a really cool part of my job, but sometimes I’m by myself which can get lonely, make me homesick or make me miss my cute husbabe. 😚 ✘ Despite all that wouldn’t trade this job for anything in the world! 😌 All the people I get to meet, places I get to travel to + memories I get to document makes this job truly amazing. 🙌🏼 I say all this because I know how glamorous social media can make certain people’s lives or jobs look when really they are pretty normal like everyone else. #fridayintroductions

This week I took 1,434 photos and this isn’t one of them. I’ll be editing all weekend and hiding from the cold and slush. Fingers crossed I get it all done before next week gets rolling.

{ hi there, I’m Lauren } - and I’m truly happy that you’re here! The truth is that I’d rather be posting photos of sweet babies, lovers, and families but I also want you to know the person behind the camera.✨ I have a smile on my face 90% of the time. I thrive on positivity which is probably why I love photographing people’s happiest moments! I’m here for the storytelling. 📚 I LOVE capturing the sweetest love stories! Whether you’re a bride and groom or a family, your story should be told! I’m always honored to tell your story while I’m behind the lens! I’m the girl who went college 25 minutes away from home and then moved to a brand new city 700 miles away from home. 🚙 The scariest, most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. I am here to keep you calm while you’re on my watch! I want to make nerve-wracking wedding days feel like a collection of simply sweet moments. That’s me. I’m an enneagram type 2 who thrives on encouraging words, flavored coffee, and always up for Chickfila.

“Light Study of a Yogi” - In 2019 I quit my day job to pursue something I love. It hasn’t been easy, but learning a skill and seeing the progress in moments like this is worth it. I’m happy to share my first studio portrait project! Thank you to the talented and lovely @kirin_power for stepping out of her comfort zone and in front of my camera where we were both able to grow 💪🏼
